Great tip, short and simple! I just did it from Mac OS X 10.6. Snow Leopard to 10.7. Lion, works fine. Maybe you could add an update concerning Lion: Library folder is hidden and can be accessed from Finder's menu "Go" by pressing ALT at the same time. I'm using non-English OS, so I'm not sure if the menu is called "Go", "Go to", "Move" or something like that... And how familiar Lion users are with this new feature of hidden Library.

My problem is that the old Mac was stolen but luckily i still have the iTunes library on my iPhone 4. How do i proceed syncing this (iTunes Library on my iPhone) to my new Macbook Pro ?

Sorry, forgot to include the two file locations that are in question.
I don't have a Library folder under my username for these.

/Users/username/Library/Application Support/MobileSync
/Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes*

My Macbook Air does not have two of the folders indicated. I found everything on my old iMac G5 without issue. I'm wondering about the destination location. Suggestions anyone?

I have a question which Im hoping someone can help me with...I gave my boyfriend my old iphone 3G handset and we now want to sync his itunes account on his pc with the phone. Is this possible? It doesnt matter too much if he loses the music I already put on my iphone, as I have transferred my own account to my new phone and sync it. We basically want to sync the phone and pc at his end and start from scratch with his own itunes account. Any ideas, nice people?

It would be nice if you could post a solution for when the OLD MAC is completely out of commision, and migration assistant can't grab that data.

But the iphone itself has the data

I can't even set up my mail, although mail works on my iphone

I can confirm that this work on LION! To Find the User Library, You will need to hold the "Option" when selecting "Go" Tab in Finder menu bar. Lion automatically hides the user Library Folder. Good Luck!

Didn't get the 'copy' bit. After copy shouldn't there be a paste part? After the last of the three copy should one connect the iphone to the old mac and then sync with itunes? After connecting to the new mac how does the new mac transfer the apps/

AWESOME: combined data from two older macs and this tip was great in getting the family's iphones/ipods synced nicely. The APPS tab / folder was empty though. So, right clicked the iphone in iTunes and transferred purchases to the APP folder. Worked great. THANK YOU!!!
